English Paper Piecing is very portable -- allowing quilting to be done anywhere, anytime! (Note: English Paper Piecing is distinct from Foundational Paper Piecing -- that is, they are two very different techniques.) The workshop's project will be an 18" rosette block that may be used as a table piece when completed. Participants will be using fabric from their stash; additional prep details will be sent ahead of class once sign-up is complete August 18, 2025 Marlene owns “The Quilted Strawberry” quilt shop, in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Just as many young children have through the generations, Wendy Read became comfortable with the fiber arts at an early age, from playing with her mother’s button basket and the fabric scraps that fell on the floor as her mother sat and sewed, to making many of her own clothes as a teenager. As an adult drawn to the arts, she naturally experimented with the media she was most familiar with, incorporating exotic and interesting fibers and materials, paints and dyes to create her art. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she had the fortune of having the influence of several professional and amateur artists in her family, as well as year-round access to nature. Her work has been displayed in numerous exhibits and private showings, and has won many awards throughout the country. While she uses many fiber art techniques, there is usually extensive thread-painting in her work, where the thread becomes her paint, the sewing machine her paintbrush. December: Happy Holidays, and a joyful New Year, however you may celebrate! January 19,2026: KQ Game Night! Join in for an evening of games, treats, fun, and get to know your fellow KQ members. February 16, 2026: “Love it or Hate It.” Hopefully the weather cooperates this time: this program was initially scheduled for January 2024. Members are asked to bring a quilting notion/tool they absolutely love and one that they wish they had never wasted their money on. Ideally, we will not only learn what we are missing out on, what to keep from buying but maybe even learn something about a notion we bought and didn't know how to properly use! This is a group activity for all...beginner to expert... we can't wait to see what you love/hate! March 16 2026: Kay Capps will present “My Quilting Journey and Trunk Show. April 20, 2026: Tony Jacobson's program to be determined. May 18, 2026: Annual meeting, KQ Board provides a meal, installation of officers, and presentation of upcoming workshops and programs. | ||||||||||||||
