Purpose:
Keepsake Quilters Guild is a non-profit organization founded in April 1990 for the purpose of educating its members and others in the area we serve, concentrating on preserving and promoting the area of quilting and providing for the interchange of information.
Membership:
Membership is open to anyone interested in quilting. The year is from June 1st to May 31st. Yearly dues of $30 are payable in March, April, and May. (After Dec. 1st dues for new members are $15 for the balance of the guild year. A new member is someone who has never belonged or has not belonged for the previous 3 years) This year we are offering a full time student rate of $15. Guests may visit free of charge, with a $5 charge after the first visit or if any nationally known speaker is on the program. For more information contact the membership chairpersons, president, or visit our website for a membership form.
Meetings:
Meetings consist of a business meeting, workshop show-and-tell, regular show-and-tell, program.
Members are encouraged to wear name tags to the meetings. A paper tag should be purchased for 25 cents if a regular name tag is not worn. The money for these temporary tags goes to the “Quilts To Share” program. Each month there is a name tag drawing to reward those who remember to wear their name tags.
Little blue ribbons on brass pins will be given to each member who shares quilts during Show N Tell during meetings. Only 1 ribbon per person will be awarded each month. Only completed projects will be awarded ribbons. Upon being awarded the tenth blue ribbon for Show N Tell, the 10 blue ribbons may be exchanged for a purple ribbon.
Colors of ribbons are awarded as follows:
Blue = 1 per showing
10 blue ribbons = 1 purple ribbon
10 purple ribbons = 1 red ribbon
Green = 1 per workshop taken and shown at meeting
Pink = 1 per completed Guild challenge project
Lime Green = 1 per quilt entered in the Keepsake Quilters Guild Quilt Show.
Guild Board:
The guild board consists of multiple positions elected by the membership. The guild year is June to May. All board members are elected by the guild and installed at the Annual Guild Meeting held in May. Visit the CONTACT page to see the current list of board members.
Involvement:
Each member is expected to actively participate in some way during the year. It is more fun when you become involved and meet other members. Ways to do this are: Board membership, The “Quilts To Share” program, set-up and tear-down for meetings, hospitality, or other things that the guild may need assistance with.
Quilt Show:
We have a biennial quilt show of member’s quilts. Our 2024 Quilt Show is Friday, October 18 from 10am - 7pm and Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9am - 3pm. It will be held at 718 Clay Street, Cedar Falls, IA (First United Methodist Church). An admission fee to the show is $5/person is payable at the door. Ample free parking. Handicap accessible.
